The Who think Lady Gaga is a "space oddity".

The legendary rock band are huge fans of the 'Bad Romance' singer and are very impressed by her theatrical stage shows and the personas she adopts

Guitarist Pete Townshend said: "What Lady Gaga has done is created an iconic figure who is someone we can get inside. She's a story and it's fascinating to watch - she's like a space oddity."

The Who - who famously had hits with rock operas including 'Tommy' and 'Quadrophenia' themselves - also praised the Spice Girls, after they had a dressing room next to them when both groups performed at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in London last year.

Singer Roger Daltrey, 68, said: "It was a great day. We were in the dressing room next door to the Spice Girls and listened to them warm up - and singing really well. So all those that don't think they can sing - they can. They were a joy."

The rockers also welcome advances in technology - such as computer apps and programmes - which have made it easier for people to make music and express themselves creatively.

Pete, 67, added to The Sun newspaper: "The machinery of making music means more people can do it now. The technology has made it easier to make music without being profoundly gifted."
