University of Limerick launches Bowie symposium
David Bowie is the subject of a three-day symposium which kicked off in Limerick today.
Hundreds of academics from around the world gathered at the University of Limerick to discuss and debate the cultural influence and career of the rock icon.
More than 300 sociologists, historians, music, culture and art academics are meeting at UL, as part of its first academic conference dedicated to the work of Bowie.
Contributors to the symposium will include Bowie's former Press Officer, Chris Charlesworth, as well as Deputy Editor of Hotpress, Stuart Clark and lead vocalist from the Undertones and Today FM presenter, Paul McLoone.
