University of Limerick to celebrate birthday with Bowie conference
The University of Limerick has announced a three-day symposium examining the career of iconic singer David Bowie.
The event, which UL says is a world first, is being held to mark the 40th anniversary of the song "Changes", and it will coincide with the university's 40th birthday too.
'Strange Fascination? A Symposium on David Bowie' has drawn speakers from across the globe who will examine Bowie's long and varied career.
It is being organised by the Department of Sociology, and UL said it is just the latest example of their expertise in pop culture studies.
The university previously held similar academic conferences on the cultural influences of Morrissey and Harry Potter.
