Victoria Pendleton broke down in tears after messing up her dance on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ last night.
The Olympic gold medallist – who was widely tipped as one to watch in the show - missed steps and appeared out of time while performing her Cha-Cha to Kylie Minogue’s ‘Spinning Around’ and cried while the judge’s gave their feedback.
She said: “There is no way I thought I was going to cry, but I just blew it so much.”
Bruno Tonioli said Victoria had often fallen off her bike during her career as a cyclist but believed she could recover from her first-night jitters.
She gained a total of 16 points, putting her at the bottom of the leaderboard after the first night of performances.
However, it was not all bad – fellow competitor Denise Van Outen got off to a good start, despite partner James Jordan suffering with a broken nose and actor Colin Salmon impressed with his performance with professional Kristina Rihanoff.
Denise topped the leaderboard with 25 points while Colin and Kristina came second with 23.
Tonight will see the other acts – including Olympic heartthrob Louis Smith and actress Lisa Riley – take to the stage.
