Culture shock! Bewildered Aussie journalist accosted by overexuberant Irishman at Melbourne Cup

Irishman Aidan Shiels was the talk of the Melbourne Cup thanks to his ecstatic celebrations when French horse ’Heartbreak City’ came second in the prestigious race.

Mr Martin, who co-owns the French horse, began leaping around the place, hugging anyone in proximity, including Channel 7 reporter Neil Kearney who was bewildered by the man’s joy.

Reminding the Irishman that his horse had only come second, Aidan screamed "I don’t care, I don’t care, we woulda been happy with last!"
