Creative couple fantasises about everything that could go wrong while babysitting

When a couple were asked to look after their friends’ baby boy, they were riddled with nerves yet found a unique way to ease the anxiety.

Nervous about looking after the baby boy overnight for the first time, designers Erica and Hannes took an imaginative approach to the babysitting task, envisioning the most over-the-top scenarios that could possibly happen with the little six-month old.

They brought their disaster fantasies to life, using Photoshop to depict their wild imaginings – and sent their creations to baby Alex’s parents as hourly updates.

“We were babysitting him for the first time for a full day and night, and were therefore quite nervous,” they told us.

“After all, you want to do everything right, especially when it’s not your own kid and we don’t have kids of our own yet.

“So after the parents, our closest friends, had left, we started imagining what’s the worst thing that can go wrong, and came up with these.

“It made us more relaxed (without being irresponsible) in the process and accounted for a really fun and great day with him.

“And the parents loved the updates! So there’s a win win there. And the third win is for baby Alex, who will grow up and have a great little memory book that he can look at later on.”

They wrote on Reddit: “True, we didn’t teach the kid how to read that day. We also didn’t expand his brain by playing classical music non-stop. We didn’t feed him an immune system boosting meal every 15 minutes. But he survived, giggled a lot, was looked after the entire time by the two of us and went to bed at 7.30pm perfectly happy.”
