The pair suffered whiplash and had bleeding noses after the minor accident, which occurred after they left a studio following a long recording session.

According to reports, Will.i.am was driving a $100,000 (€80,000) Cadillac which hit a parked car while his best friend Cheryl was in the front passenger seat.

Both quickly assured fans they were fine. Will.i.am tweeted: “Car accidents are not dope... I’m glad I’m ok.”

Reports say witnesses saw at least one air bag deployed during the crash.

Will.i.am also tweeted: “We’re fine. Cheryl Cole [and I] were coming back from the studio but she and I are fine ... just a little wiplash.”

Cheryl added: “Don’t worry me and @iamwill are fine, promise x.”

Polo Molina, Will.i.am’s manager added on Twitter: “Just spoke to @iamwill everything is OK. he and @cherylcole are both fine.

“It was a minor fender bender after a long day/ night in the studio. They are both OK. a little bit shaken BUT thankfull that noone got hurt.”

The Sun reported police arrived at the scene before Will.i.am was taken to a nearby hospital for a full check-up. He was later seen leaving in a neck brace with bloodstains still on his jeans. Cheryl was believed to have been treated at the scene and did not go to hospital.

Earlier this week Will.i.am’s latest song, Reaching for the Stars, was relayed to Mars and back via the Mars rover Curiosity, making it the first song ever to debut from another planet.

The song was not played on Mars, as Curiosity does not have speakers.
