The Traitors episode 2 recap: Has one Cork faithful it all figured out already?

It’s the first breakfast of the season – and there are four Traitors at the table.
Donegal mammy Edelle was revealed as the final recruit at the start of episode two. And now she has a big decision to make: who will be the first Faithful to be murdered?
She’s only been a Traitor for a few hours, but she's already under suspicion.
“Are you warm?” Laura asks pointedly as Edelle sits there visibly fanning herself.
“No, I...I...I... I got moisturiser in my eyes this morning,” she stutters.
“Who did you kill, Edelle?” DJ shouts across the table.
When vocal coach Emma doesn’t walk through the door (that’s who she killed DJ), Siobhán dutifully appears to remind the happy 22 that the game is now in “full flow”.
Pete, 43, from Cork, tells fellow Faithfuls Seán A and Pauric O that he’s suspicious of Fionula, whose story about where she’s from in the county has already changed since day one.
“I asked her where she was from,” he explains. “She said Ballyphehane, I said Jesus, yeah, I play rugby up there in Musgrave Park. Then the Traitors are chosen and she says, ‘I am from Frankfield.’ It’s a slip.”
Pete then finds Laura and Sam to discuss his suspicions about Páraic K, whose behaviour has also “changed”. They all agree he “looks wrecked” – a sign he was up late with the other Traitors?
“Another thing,” Pete says, “he squeezed Edelle... like a meeting of Traitors.”
We might have rolled our eyes when Pete revealed his role in the Irish Defence Forces is as an investigator, but by God, he’s got three already!
Diego is also catching strays, with Denis jumping in to say maybe he’s just quieter because English isn’t his first language.
“He’s been here 15 years,” Janet deadpans.
Episode two's mission involves a ceílí with €4,000 up for grabs. It’s a game of musical chairs where the contestants grab a dancing partner, and after looking for bags of cash, they must find themselves a seat on a bale of hay when the music stops – with bales being removed each time so couples are knocked out one by one. The last couple standing will automatically earn immunity from tonight’s murder.
On the first round, multiple pairs decided not to look for money at all, just sitting down and saving themselves, causing some early tension in the group. “Lads, come on,” car salesman DJ whines, “money is the name of the game!”
Finally on round three, after being suitably side-eyed by their fellow contestants, everyone at least attempts to find some money. Still, it’s clear people’s desire to get back to their seat is stronger with the contestants having won just €1,400 by the end of the game, with Diego and Denis winning shields.
Diego and Denis, speaking of.... are married. It’s the first confirmed connection, but will there be more?
Speaking of firsts, it’s time for the first roundtable! Edelle is under fire from all sides, while Páraic K, Pauric O and DJ also come under suspicion.
DJ immediately confesses that he’s not a car parts manager – he’s a car salesman.
“Why would you lie... and tell us now?” he’s asked. It’s a fair question. It’s literally the roundtable.
Pete also brings up the Ballyphehane/Frankfield issue with Fionula, who confirms she’s Ballyphehane, but in Frankfield.
Then it’s time to vote.
Eight votes for DJ, 12 for Edelle, one for Pauric O and one for Pauric C?
“I meant Pauric O,” Aoife clarifies. We knew it was going to get confusing.
So, our Donegal mammy is out on her ear, and the Faithfuls have managed to catch a Traitor on their very first attempt. Now, don’t get too cocky, lads...
