Nicola Coughlan has been named as the next host of the upcoming episode of the UK edition of Saturday Night Live (SNL).

The Irish actress will front the comedy show on April 25, and will be joined by rock band Foo Fighters, who have appeared on the US version of the sketch show nine times.

Separately, Sex Education and The White Lotus star Lou Wood will host on May 2, accompanied by British breakthrough artist Meek.

SNL made its debut in the UK on March 21, with a star-studded episode fronted by US actress Tina Fey, who was previously the head writer and lead cast member on the sketch show's US version.

The inaugural season has so far been hosted by Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, and Jack Whitehall. Their corresponding musical guests were Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, Kasabian, and Jorja Smith.

Both Coughlan and Wood will open the show with a monologue and take part in skits throughout the 75-minute episodes.

Galway-born actress Coughlan is best known for playing Penelope Bridgerton in the Netflix series Bridgerton and student Clare Devlin on the hit comedy Derry Girls.

Her hosting duties will mark the return of SNL UK, which is broadcast live from London, after its one-week pause.

The show is available to watch on Sky and Now TV.
