Singer Barry Manilow has revealed he has a cancerous spot on his lung and will undergo surgery.
The musician, best known for hits including and said he is lucky he was diagnosed very early.
In a statement on Instagram, he said: âAs many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks.
âEven though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK.
âThe MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. Itâs pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. Thatâs the good news.â
He continued: âThe bad news is that now that the Christmas Gift Of Love concerts are over Iâm going into surgery to have the spot removed.
âThe doctors do not believe it has spread and Iâm taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So thatâs it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and reruns.â
Manilow added he will need to spend a month recovering and will reschedule a string of arena concerts in January.
He was supposed to embark on a tour of US cities including Orlando, Tampa, Charleston, Greensboro and Columbus.
He said he is âcounting down the daysâ until his concerts on Valentineâs weekend in February and throughout 2026 at the Westgate Las Vegas.
Manilow also issued a warning to fans, saying: âRemember, if you have even the slightest symptomâŠget tested!â
