'It’s a special place for me': Ed Sheeran performs intimate gig for fans in Dublin
Ed Sheeran currently has 14 songs in the Billions Club, and to celebrate, some of his loyal listeners on Spotify got the chance to celebrate with him at a ‘secret’ Dublin.
Ed Sheeran performed an intimate gig in Dublin on Monday night for some of his biggest fans.
Premium Spotify users, who are top fans of Sheeran on the music streaming platform, were invited to the ‘Billions Club Live’ in Dublin, which saw up to 2,000 people descend on the Industries Hall at the RDS on Monday.
The Spotify Billions Club is a playlist and series celebrating songs that have achieved over one billion streams on the platform.
The playlist includes every song that has reached this milestone, showcasing the popularity and impact of these tracks.
To celebrate this feat, Spotify sometimes hosts a special concert for the top listeners of the artist.
Ed Sheeran currently has 14 songs in the Billions Club, and to celebrate, some of his loyal listeners on Spotify got the chance to celebrate with him at the ‘secret’ Dublin location, which was revealed two hours before the gig.
In an email sent to fans around two weeks ago, Spotify promised that the “intimate” one-night-only event would bring Sheeran's “biggest songs to life – just for his biggest fans”.
Explaining on stage that the gig was a celebration marking the ‘Billions Club Live’, Sheeran said: “The reason I wanted to do it in Dublin is that this is the place where I decided I wanted to be a singer-songwriter when I was a kid.
“It’s a special place for me, with my family, but it’s also a special place for me musically. I feel like this is where it all began. So, I’m happy that we’re here.”

Ed Sheeran will make a return to Dublin in December for his sold-out gig at the 3Arena on Tuesday, December 9.
This leg of his tour comes following the release of his new album on September 12 this year.
