Mairéad Hickey to play with National Symphony Orchestra in Cork 

Mairéad Hickey will feature in a performance of a work by Tchaikovsky at Cork City Hall. 

One of the highlights of Cork Orchestral Society’s winter programme takes place in Cork City Hall on Saturday, October 18, when National Symphony Orchestra Ireland visit under the baton of Anna Rakitina. 

Joining them on the night for a performance of Tchaikovsky’s virtuosic Violin Concerto in D major (Op. 35) will be Cork violinist Mairéad Hickey. 

Other pieces on the programme include Anna Clyne’s Restless Oceans, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 (Op. 47).

On the previous night, Friday, October 17, at the Curtis Auditorium of MTU Cork School of Music, sopranos Majella Cullagh and Kelley Petcu will be accompanied by pianist Ciara Moroney for songs by Purcell, Monteverdi, Mozart, and more.
