House Of Guinness: Dervla Kirwan on starring in the Dublin-set Netflix series 

In the House of Guinness series, Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight has turned his attention tumultuous times in Ireland, writes  Esther McCarthy

She’s enjoyed a long and successful screen and stage career - but some job offers are extra special. So when Dervla Kirwan was approached to work on the latest series from Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight, centred around the Guinness family, the TV viewer as well as the actor in her was excited. An ardent fan of screen storytelling, Knight had been the driving force behind some of her favourite shows.

“What you have to understand is, I'm absolutely obsessed with Peaky Blinders, with A Thousand Blows, with This Town,” she says. “I would watch the late great Helen McCrory and go, what a brilliant performance as Polly and obviously Cillian Murphy. You sit there and go, ‘God, I'd love a shot at that one day’.”
