Writer and broadcaster Manchán Magan has made the decision to cancel his upcoming tour of Arán & Im, including his upcoming show at The Everyman.
The theatre informed ticket holders on Tuesday that Magan has had a setback in his journey with prostate cancer and that he and his team had made the decision to cancel all dates of his tour.
Full refunds will be processed in the coming days for all customers with tickets to the show scheduled for November 10.
Customers are advised that refunds of tickets booked online or by phone using a credit card will be processed automatically. The theatre will be in touch with those who purchased tickets in person at the box office using cash or card to organise a refund.
“We wish Manchán all the best with his treatment and if you do have any queries on this matter, please don't hesitate to contact us,” the theatre said in its email to ticket-holders.
Magan, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2023, recently joined Brendan O’Connor on RTÉ Radio 1 to speak about his experience of living with cancer.
Speaking to O’Connor, he said: “It’s a lovely thing to know that I can plan my last few, is it months, or years? We don’t know. We might get a year or two, and definitely get another few months.”
Magan went on to talk about his connection to the spirit world, recalling how his mum and dad recognised that he was “a dreamer” and gave him a corner in the garden where he would “dig away” with his herbs and his flowers, and that he would hear the spirit world.
“I would just be hearing the spirit world, I would just be communicating with them. It was just these loving voices. The voice of feeling, that I have been put into this shell of a body for a certain amount of time, and I am like, this white light. This loving source of white light and I’m here to play,” he said.
