Leo Earley from Drumsna has been cast to play Seamus Finnigan in the Harry Potter television series.

The Late Late Toy Show star Leo Earley has landed a role in the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series.

The Leitrim native stole the hearts of the nation with his storytelling skills last year when he appeared on the Late Late Toy Show.

He has now been cast as Seamus Finnigan in the upcoming series, which Devon Murray previously played in the film franchise.

The IT Crowd star Katherine Parkinson has also been announced to be playing Molly Weasley, the mother of Ron Weasley, in the new series.

Other additions to the cast include Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge.

In May, newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout were announced to be playing the leading roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively.

The cast also includes John Lithgow as Professor Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Professor Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, and Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell.

HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series will be a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling's books. It has been reported that the new series is likely to be released in late 2026 or early 2027.
