Barry Keoghan has been added to the programme for Fastnet Film Festival.

Oscar-nominated star Barry Keoghan is heading to West Cork next month.

The star of Saltburn, Love/Hate, and the upcoming Beatles biopic has been added to the lineup for Fastnet Film Festival, which takes place in Schull from May 21 to 28.

When announcing Keoghan's addition to the programme as a "super-guest", the film festival described him as "one of the most exciting actors of his generation".

Keoghan's role as Dominic in The Banshees of Inisherin three years ago earned him an Oscar nomination and a Bafta win, while his portrayal of Oliver Quick in Saltburn received much acclaim.

Previously announced guests for the 2025 programme of events include Domhnall Gleeson and Maria Doyle Kennedy.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Keoghan will take on the role of Ringo Starr in a collection of new Beatles biopics that will also see Paul Mescal play Paul McCartney.

There will be four films, with an April 2028 release date, directed by filmmaker Sam Mendes, who called the films the “first binge-able theatrical experience”.

The project marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd and The Beatles – McCartney, Starr, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison – have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film.

Starr previously appeared to let slip that Keoghan had taken on the role.

He told Entertainment Tonight: “I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”

Tickets for Fastnet Film Festival will be available from Monday, April 28 through Eventbrite. The full programme will be revealed at an event in Cork city on Thursday, April 24.
