Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury met on reality dating show Love Island and were together for five years, including a romantic proposal and the birth of their daughter Bambi. However, news of their breakup shocked fans of the couple last year when Molly Mae confirmed their relationship had ended.
In her new Prime Video series, Molly-Mae addresses the shock she felt about their split.
“All I ever wanted was for me and him to get married next year, which we’d already started planning, have more children, and live a really happy life together,” she says.
“There was never a world in which we weren’t going to be together, we were literally obsessed with each other. This isn't how I wanted it to be.” Some people speculated the breakup was a publicity stunt, which she denies.
“I think it’s absolutely bizarre that anybody would think it's a publicity stunt. I wish it was a publicity stunt because that would be a lot easier, it would mean my relationship’s actually fine, but it’s not.” She says it’s been difficult to move on from their separation as Tommy is still in her life as they co-parent Bambi.
“Cutting someone off sometimes enables you to heal and get over it but Tommy and I still have been communicating because of Bambi,” she says.
Finding herself co-parenting with Tommy also came as a shock to the 25-year-old, who feels she has lost much of her freedom.
“Suddenly overnight my life wasn’t my life anymore. Have I ruined any chances of me actually being able to work or do anything other than taking care of this little person?” she muses.
“I’ve had a few moments recently where I’ve genuinely felt like a single mum. Sometimes it really hits you that ‘I’m in this alone now’.” Moly-Mae adds that she feels a lot of anger towards Tommy for the hurt she feels he has caused her.
“I feel really traumatised by the last couple of months and when I see him I see all that trauma. I am angry at him, I’m very hurt. I can’t help that.”

Ahead of the release of Molly-Mae: Behind It All, Tommy confirmed it was his struggle with alcohol had had driven the couple apart. Molly-Mae addresses this with her mother Debbie in the series. Debbie shares how she had concerns during their relationship.
“As much as I’m very fond of him, equally over the years there were so many occasions that I witnessed myself that made me so beyond worried about you,” she told Molly-Mae.
Her daughter agrees, saying alcohol was always a concern.
“There were exterior issues going on for him that caused our relationship to have problems. It’s drinking,” Molly-Mae says, adding how Tommy seemed like he was trying to live two different lifestyles.
“He wanted to have a family life but then have the life of a 25-year-old boy with no responsibilities and the two don’t go hand in hand.” “He never had an alcohol problem, it’s just that alcohol caused problems for us. It got to a point where I was not really looking forward to anything because alcohol affected it so much.”
She also revealed that while his proposal was “perfect” it came at a time when "things were getting a bit tricky for us, actually.”
Throughout the first three episodes, Molly-Mae shares her love/hate relationship with the media. While she has many positive experiences with the press, she highlights many untrue stories that are published about her, usually attributed to sources close to her.
She said this was particularly noticeable during the end of her relationship.
“People genuinely believe everything they read because I was getting messages from people quite close to me about ‘I’m really sorry to hear he’s gotten somebody pregnant’, “I’m really sorry to hear that he’s been with this person’. I was like, where is this coming from?” Her manager says she tried to protect Molly-Mae from the media by limiting the amount of interviews she does.
“We don’t do a lot of interviews. We don’t put Molly in a position where she can have things twisted,” she says. Molly adds that she has learned the hard way to say less in front of the press.
“I have learned the hard way from that over the years that it is better just to sometimes keep your mouth quiet.”
At one point we see Molly-Mae learn about a just-published story detailing her criticism of Tommy – a story she claims is entirely false.

We see Molly-Mae navigate the launch of her fashion brand, Maybe, including a major issue with the fabric that went viral on social media. The blazer from the collection was criticised for bobbling, with one TikToker calling it “a waste of money” and another describing it as “shocking” quality.
“We have faced more negativity than I anticipated so far,” she says. “Not all of it has been fair but I have to hold my hands up and say some of it has been fair.”
She claims the fabric used in the final product was not the same fabric she had signed off on.
“I’m finding this very hard because at first it was just my relationship that was breaking down but now I feel like it was my business too.”
Throughout the first half of the series – with the final three episodes yet to be released – Molly-Mae often mentions how much she wants to be with Tommy, and how he feels the same.
At one stage she says it is “positive” that “Tommy and I are working on things and things are going in a more positive direction”. She frequently describes how she wants her family to be together again, once Tommy works through his alcohol issues.
“Tommy’s a lovely person, he’s a really good guy. Right now in this moment I don’t know what the future holds for Tommy and I, but I’d be lying if I said my love just disappeared overnight,” she says.
“I’ve been holding on to the hope and the idea that as soulmates we will always come back together... all I want is to be with him.”
However, at a particularly stressful moment when struggling with her love life and her new business, she muses “maybe we are actually just done”.
However, with the remaining episodes yet to air, and a tease of her reaction to photos of her and Tommy kissing on New Year’s Eve being published, there may be more developments to come.
