Kneecap cancel Thursday's gig at Cork City Hall

Kneecap have postponed their gig at Cork City Hall until February.
Kneecap have announced the rescheduling of their concert at Cork City Hall on Thursday night. The gig has been sold out for weeks, but the Northern hip-hop trio have had to postpone the event due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
While Cork punters will be disappointed at the loss of the December event, a replacement date has been added for Thursday, February 13 at the same venue. Tickets from the original Cork gig will remain valid for the February 13 gig.

Promoters the Good Room say that refunds are available at the point of purchase for those who can’t make the new date. An additional date has also been added for Wednesday, February 12,
Ticket-holders were informed of the postponement by email on Tuesday evening.
The Cork gig was almost exactly a year on from Kneecap’s appearance at the same venue last year. Back then, they were one of the emerging new forces in the domestic music scene, but an incredible 12 months — largely on the back of their self-titled film — has seen them become one of the most high-profile acts in Ireland and beyond.
Tuesday was a day of mixed news for the group, as their film was also announced as being shortlisted for an Academy Award in the Best International Film category, and their 'Sick in the Head' tune had also made the list for the Original Song category. Those lists of 15 candidates each will be whittled down to five for the January 17 selection of nominees.
Last Friday, Kneecap had joined the likes of Paul Weller and Primal Scream at Brixton Academy for a benefit gig for Palestinians, a cause they've long been advocates for.
Other upcoming gigs at Cork City Hall are due to go ahead as scheduled, including Stephanie Rainey (Weds, Dec 18) and the Mary Wallopers (Mon, Dec 23).
