Bambie Thug unleashes the witchy energy and a new single as they set off on tour
Bambie Thug has a new single, Hex so Heavy.
Bambie Thug is getting autumn off to a great start, with the first dates of their headline tour and the release of a new single.
The Cork singer, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, played to a packed tent on the Sunday of Electric Picnic, giving fans a taste of what's in store on the tour, with a performance that included strobe lighting, costume changes and a water gun.
Their set was filled with high-energy moments as well as more sombre ones, such as when Bambie, draped in a Palestinian flag, sang a cover of The Cranberries’ 'Zombie'.
The weeks after the Picnic were spent prepping for their headline Crown the Witch tour, which kicked in Brighton, before heading to other cities throughout the UK and Europe. The tour comes to Dublin on October 27 with a few other Irish dates, and wraps up in Cork City Hall on November 7.
Bambie told the Irish Examiner they were hopeful of having a few days off throughout the tour to take in the sights of each city. “I probably won’t get to see all the places because you just rock up and leave after to travel, but I think I have a few days here and there, like Budapest. I’m just excited to meet everybody across Europe. It’s crazy,” said the Macroom native.
Bambie, who represented Ireland in the Eurovision last May, has built up a bit of a cult following, with some dedicated fans flocking to see them whenever they can – including at Electric Picnic, wearing “Bambie Thug for Taoiseach” t-shirts.

Some of this fanbase across Europe is down to the song contest, they say. “The platform it gives me definitely has opened up to just pockets of people I never would have reached otherwise. That's really gorgeous.”
Bambie doesn’t see another Eurovision Song Contest in their future, however, unless it was writing for another act.
They describe the experience as “life changing”, and said: “I learned a lot. I definitely feel like I entered a baby and came out a fully-fledged adult. It opened a lot of doors.”
When asked the question of going back outright, they said, with a hearty laugh: “Em, no.
“I could definitely write for someone else to go on it. My career has definitely moved on from that now. I’m excited to do my own stuff.”
To coincide with the tour’s first night on August 30 in Brighton, Bambie dropped a new single, 'Hex So Heavy'.
The song, with it’s heavy bassline and sharp soundscapes, is a warning to anyone who may have wronged them. Bambie said: “'Hex So Heavy' is a witches siren, a warning to those who have crossed me.
“This song channels the energy of those experiences – deception, betrayal – and turns them into something transformative – strength, resilience. It’s a reminder to those who have wronged me, that life has a way of making sure we all face what we’ve set in motion.
“As Jojo Siwa says, ‘Karma’s a bitch’… and it’s about to come around.”
