Naomi Ackie stars in Blink Twice
Zoë Kravitz makes her directorial debut with Blink Twice (16), which tells the story of tech mogul Slater King (Channing Tatum) as he seeks redemption following allegations of abuse of power.
Nail artist Frida (Naomi Ackie) is infatuated with Slater, even more so since he began his redemption campaign.

She seizes an opportunity to spend time with him on his private island after she meets him at a party. The luxurious experience takes a dark turn, possibly due to excessive champagne and drugs, or maybe something more sinister?
As Frida and Slater grow closer, her friend Jess (Alia Shawkat) senses something isn’t right, but what is it?
While Kravitz displays a slick and confident directorial debut, the ending could benefit from a more seasoned director as it currently feels exploitative, clashing with the earlier commentary that society is willing to forgive rich white men over past transgressions.
Nevertheless, the performances, particularly by Ackie and Tatum, make a strong impression. With some more experience, Kravitz could be one to watch.
