There will be beautiful red hair, there will be magic, there's a wedding and there will be Irish scenery. It has to be Irish Wish — it's a new romcom starring Lindsay Lohan and Jane Seymour. 

Irish Wish will be released on Netflix on March 15 at 7am and a new trailer has been released, giving fans a first glimpse at Lohan in action.

Lohan, star of Mean Girls and The Parent Trap, plays Maddie Kelly who feels she's always a bridesmaid and never a bride.

So when the love of her life gets engaged to her best friend she puts her feelings aside to attend their wedding in Ireland. But then she makes a spontaneous wish for true love... and magically wakes up as the bride-to-be.

Maddie's 'romantic pickle' is set in what's billed as the "rolling green moors of Ireland" and was filmed at Kilruddery House and Gardens, Bray Head, Lough Tay in the Wicklow Mountains, in Westport, at Knock Airport, and at the Cliffs of Moher.

Jane Seymour who starred in Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman and The Kominsky Method, plays Maddie's mother. 

The film also stars Elizabeth Tan ( Emily in Paris, The Singapore Grip), Ed Speleers ( Outlander, Downton Abbey), Alexander Vlahos, and Ayesha Curry. 

Along the way, Maddie learns that her dreams for true love might not be what she imagined and that her soulmate may well be a different person than she originally expected. "Apparently magic wishes are quite insightful."

Irish Wish is directed by Janeen Damian ( Falling for Christmas, High Strung Free Dance) and written by Kirsten Hansen, and the film is part of Lohan’s two-picture creative partnership with Netflix. The second film is Our Little Secret and it began production last month.

Back in 2022, ahead of filming, Netflix casting team, MovieExtras, was looking for a full-time camera body double to fill in for Lohan whose ancestors are originally from Cork.

Applicants were instructed that they "must be willing to have their hair dyed red for the role if selected". 

In 2014, genealogists traced potential Irish roots for Lohan in Counties Cork and Galway.  

Her mother Donata 'Dina' Melina Nicolette Lohan (née Sullivan) and grandfather John L Sullivan came from a well-known Irish American family that traced its roots back to County Cork. Lindsay's father's side — grandfather Richard Lohan and her father Michael Lohan — also have Cork roots.
