TV review: Joanne McNally and Vogue William's new sex-focused show is worth a watch
Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams are successful because they sound real and funny when they talk about love, life, and sex.
I laughed out loud more than once during (E4, stream on Channel 4). It was a pleasant surprise.
These celebrity-travel-self-discovery things are usually awful, with random well-known types trudging through scripted banter at a fish market in Palermo.
But then Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams aren’t random celebrities thrown together — they’re hosts of the podcast, which is successful because they sound real and funny when they talk about love, life, and sex.
It’s all on display here. The pair are sent to Ibiza on the hunt for better sex, which is a good choice because the two women are made for the sunshine, and every second person on the island is a qualified sex expert, according to a certificate they printed off the internet.
My favourite bit was when Joanne and Vogue took turns spanking each other, while the spankee leaned against a door, with an instructor in the background who was an expert in these things.
This is classic shite celebrity-travel-self-discovery stuff, but they made it work by taking it seriously.
So was the bit when they rifled through a bin of vibrators, saying what they did and they didn’t like. People talking about their masturbation habits in public can go horribly wrong. It’s often too brash, too crass, too giggly or just too much information.
There was none of that here. It was giggly, but they were being candid as well about what they like and don’t like in a sex toy.
Joanne dropped in that she keeps losing them because she travels a lot, Vogue talked openly about wanting to try new things in and out of bed with her also-celebrity husband Spencer Matthews.

Most of all they came across as vulnerable. They both revealed they like sex but they’re not that kinky.
The idea of the show was that they should go in search of kink, but you could see they weren’t impressed by the bondage instructor, and in fairness it looked like a lot of trouble unless you had a badge from the scouts for tying knots.
Their final leg was a visit to a retreat where women in white sat around in circles and roared ‘yes’ and ‘no’ to each other. Joanne and Vogue managed to keep a straight face, which was very funny in itself.
Joanne revealed afterward that she was morto because her fake tan started to melt onto her white top in the heat.
It’s that kind of show, taking sex seriously, but not that seriously. Give this a watch.
