Brendan Courtney's 'beautiful' mother Nuala has died

Broadcaster Brendan Courtney has shared “with a heavy heart” the news of his mother’s death.

Courtney confirmed the death of his mother Nuala on Tuesday morning.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mam Nuala Courtney — she passed peacefully at 7:20 this morning. Information on RIP.ie later today,” a social media post read.

His mother passed away peacefully at the Navan Road Community Unit in Dublin.

Her funeral mass will be held Saturday morning at 11am at St Kilian's Church in Kingswood, followed by a cremation service at 12.30pm in Newlands Cross Crematorium.

Tributes have been paid to Nuala who has been remembered as “a fabulous lady” and “a gorgeous mum”.

Instagram users shared their condolences with Brendan and the extended Courtney family.

“So sorry to hear this Brendan — I know how much you adored her and she you. That’s a precious love. You’ll now be minded forever more by her from Heaven. I hope you’re doing okay,” presenter Miriam O Callaghan posted.

“Ah Brendan! So sorry to hear this news — what a lady!,” Donal Skehan posted.

“So sorry to hear of your loss Brendan,” singer Una Healy posted.

“I’ll never forget when you introduced her to us all with your dad, the love of her life and now she is back in his arms peacefully. RIP beautiful Nuala. Your love for Nuala was palpable Brendan that’s why we met and remember her. Losing your mam is the hardest,” another posted under Brendan’s post.

“Deepest sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your mam. May she rest in peace,” another wrote.
