A man in Co Roscommon has raised thousands of euro to buy essentials for frontline staff in intensive care units (ICUs) around the country.

Howard Simpson's actions were in response to an appeal he came across on Twitter from a doctor based in Beaumont Hospital, who tweeted asking for self-care products for frontline medical staff working in the ICU. The doctor said they were in need of hygiene products to use once they have removed personal protective equipment after their eight-to-twelve-hour shift.
