Wedding of the Week: From supermarket aisle to wedding aisle

It was a case of from one aisle to another for Eleanor McCarthy and Dawid Barutowicz.
Both are deputy store managers with the Lidl supermarket chain.
They first met in the Togher branch in August 2015 when Dawid was training Eleanor.
âI was doing the retail management degree programme with Lidl which involved three months of work placement and three months of college in Dublin, repeating for three years,â said Eleanor.
âWe kissed at the Christmas work party in December and when I went to Dublin in January we decided to try to make it work âlong distanceâ and we moved in together in March of 2016 when I returned from Dublin.â
Dawid surprised Eleanor by popping the question in December 2017, the night before she was due to return to Dublin for the last three-month stint of her course.
She said: âI was a bit down about going back; I was sick and tired of moving up and down every three months, and we were just on the couch watching a movie when he pulled out a box out with the engagement ring in it and asked me to marry him! It was perfect!â
Eleanor, from Cork, and Dawid, who is from Poland, were married recently in the Royal Hotel in Knightstown, Valentia Island, Co Kerry, with Agnes Stodolny of Bracket Studio capturing the big day on camera.

Helping lead the celebrations were the brideâs parents Elaine and Anthony and the groomâs mother and father Halina and Marek.
âThe big day itself was a laidback affair which was exactly what I wanted,â said the bride.
âWe had a beautiful ceremony in the hotel with friends and family and then a day of celebrating with our loved ones.
"The Guilty Judges travelled up from Cork to be our band and DJ and did an unreal job!â
Also by their side were Eleanorâs sister Jenny McCarthy and friend Julianne Fogarty as bridesmaids and Dawidâs friends Petr Pechacek and Jacek Kaminski as best men.
âThe most memorable part of the day for me was when my sister Jenny who was trying to hold back tears through the ceremony finally couldnât hold it in any longer and left out a hiccup of tears which made everyone laugh!â said the bride.
Eleanor and Dawid still work for Lidl, Eleanor in the Churchfield branch and Dawid in the Togher store.
They live in Cork.
