Brutally tortured street dog finds happy home thousands of miles away

The poor pup was found with the upper half of his muzzle missing.

A mutilated street dog who was flown across the Atlantic to a rescue centre in America has found a happy home.

Earlier this year, the poor dog called Anubis was found on the streets of Cairo with his nose brutally cut off. Nobody knows the reason why, but that doesn't matter, it just shouldn't have happened.

According to the New York Daily News, when rescuers found him cowering under a car, he was toughing it out on the streets scooping food off the ground with his lower jaw.

Thankfully, he was rescued by the Special Needs Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation group who are based in the States and brought him over there.

He was adopted by a family in Texas, but as they had bigger male dogs it was decided that he would need a more suitable home, which is where Kelly Hutson came in.

The 48-year-old had read about Anubis online and told the New York Daily News that she was determined to home the poor dog, saying: "I pestered them until they said OK. He's a people dog, which is incredible after a human brutalised him in such a manner."

Kelly, who runs a dog-sitting business in Texas, made the 10-hour haul to collect the pup and now Anubis couldn't be more content.

Kelly said: "He doesn't really have any major health problems we're aware of. He breathes fine, he eats fine, it's amazing.

"This is the sweetest, most loving creature you'll ever meet."
