Someone found a ripped-up Christmas card on a train and the message inside is heartbreaking

A reminder that, for some, Christmas is a tough time of year.

While Christmas is, of course, a time for celebration, it's also important to remember many are struggling.

A Reddit post today acts as a poignant reminder of that fact.

Redditor burritobattlefield found a ripped-up Christmas card on a Melbourne train and pieced it back together. He then shared a photo of the heartbreaking message written inside on the site.

It reads in full:

"Bad things happen to good people sometimes, but how you react to these things is what defines you. You always have a choice, there are better things ahead for you but it's in your hands, it's your responsibility.

"Have a happy Christmas, ps. Stop drinking. get help from someone."

While we don’t know the full story behind the message or who wrote it, it's clearly touched a nerve online, with many commenting on how sad it was and some sharing their own experiences with alcoholism.
