Stephen Fry tells Uncle Gay exactly what he'd say to God, and it's not asking for forgiveness.

A dramatic promo segment for this weekend's interview between Gay Byrne and Stephen Fry is getting plenty of attention for the apparent shock of Uncle Gay at the staunch atheist's view.

It's set up by Byrne's question to the Fry: what if you're wrong, and when you die, you find yourself at heaven's gates?

And Fry, pulling no punches in his trademark style, replies with such a strong argument that it seems Byrne is quite taken aback.

Ah yes, the problem of evil, that old chestnut of the religious philosophy. Fry's clearly not a fan of the Irenaean theodicy, eh?

Fry spotted the video himself this morning, and seems to have realised how strong his reply was, tweeting: "Oh dear, I did give poor old god a bit of a kicking here, didn’t I?"

The promo for Sunday's show was uploaded on Wednesday, but escaped our attention until it was posted to Reddit last night by user Tech46. The comments there are full of praise for Gaybo.

The full interview is from 'The Meaning of Life', and will be broadcast on Sunday night at 10.30pm on RTÉ One.

Looks like a good one.
