Freezing fog turns entire forest into an incredible ice sculpture

We've all heard of freezing fog, but it's not something Ireland, with our mild winters, often sees.

Hungary, on the other hand, gets a lot colder - which generated some spectacular results this weekend.

The entire forest in the hills at Pilis, south-east of Budapest, was covered in cloud and fog at the weekend, freezing the rain and fog solid on the branches.

The Hungarian meteorological service posted these photos to their Facebook page after taking a walk through the area on November 30.

The photos were taken at an elevation of more than 500m, but pretty much everything higher than 400m was frozen solid overnight.
