Love blasts 'ridiculous' order to place daughter with relatives
Courtney Love bought her teenage daughter a house so she could live alone.
The Hole singer thought she and Frances Bean â her child with late husband Kurt Cobain â would get along better if they lived separately.
But her plans to surprise the 17-year-old were dashed when she lost custody of her to the Nirvana starâs mother Wendy O'Connor and sister Kimberly Dawn Cobain in December.
She said: âAt Christmas time I bought her a house. And it took everything - I had to go to somebody else and get them to finance the house, because theyâd frozen my account. And I was gonna blindfold her, put her in her house and go on the road - goodbye! Thatâs it. So, thereâs no argument.
âShe wasnât very happy living with me, thatâs OK sheâs 17. Lenny Kravitzâs daughter has her own apartment at sixteen, itâs fine. As long as itâs around the corner from me and I can have some supervision, itâs fine.â
Courtney, 45, also blasted the âridiculousâ court ruling that placed Frances in the care of her relatives, insisting she doesnât understand why the order was given.
She added to Clash magazine: âItâs bananas. I did nothing. Um, I curse and I swear and I smoke and I take an anti-depressant. Thatâs what it said. Itâs Los Angeles County Municipal Court. Itâs why I got us out of there and moved to New York. Itâs ridiculous.â
