Lily never plans stage outfits
Lily Allen only decides what to wear for a performance at the last minute because she likes to match her attire to the crowd.
She said: "I never plan what I wear, not until about five minutes before I go on. It is totally about what I'm comfortable in at that moment. That's why I can't plan because I don't know how I'm going to feel.
"I have to go to a show about an hour and 45 minutes before it starts because I like to get in there, I like to put my music on, I like to do my hair - I do my own hair and make-up - and choose clothes and do a bit of vocal warm-ups and then go upstairs, peek behind the curtain, get a feel for where it is I am and what kind of people I'm performing to."
The 24-year-old star finds it annoying when people obsess about the clothes she wears rather than her music, especially as male musicians are rarely asked about their style.
She told Britain's Elle magazine: "People would never even think of asking Noel or Liam Gallagher what they wear before they go out. But because you're a girl, people think you want to look pretty in a certain sort of way.
"I do like playing with clothes - but I have to feel comfortable in what I'm wearing before jumping on that stage."
