'The Golden Compass' debuts at number one in US

'The Golden Compass' has shot straight to the top of the US box-office chart, ending 'Enchanted's' fairytale two-week stay at number one over the weekend.

The movie, which stars Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, debuts in pole position with $26.1m (€17.7m).
