Law resists Hollywood star status

Jude Law has blasted Hollywood for trying to mould him into the British Tom Cruise - insisting he hates being portrayed as a celebrity "product".

The Alfie star shot to international fame in the 1999 hit movie The Talented Mr Ripley but Law maintains that all he ever wanted to be was be respected as an actor.

Law says: "There's a period when it's all starting and you feel absolutely in control. Then suddenly the way people see you becomes like they're seeing a product, a separate entity and you name is a brand. That's when you lose control.

"I'm not Tom Cruise. Very few British actors are. If you look at the body of work I've done it's pretty obvious I'm not going to make a Mission: Impossible."
