Madonna breaks world wealth record

Singing superstar Madonna has smashed pop rival Britney Spears' record for the highest annual earnings by a female singer.

The Material Girl raked in an estimated $50m (€39.5m) in 2004 - over $10m (€7.9m) more than Spears earned in 2000 - $38.5m (€30.4m).
