Scarlett to play Amazonian warrior

History lover Scarlett Johansson is to play an Amazonian warrior in a new movie after telling producers she craved the role.

The actress pitched the idea for the project, called Amazon, to the writers of sci-fi flop The Island, who will now produce the new film.
