West countersued by DJ
Kanye West is being countersued by a Chicago DJ who disputes the rapper's claim he improperly tried to distribute 10 tracks West produced before he turned 18.
In his suit, Eric 'E-Smoove' Miller says West had agreed to let his company Focus Music Group own the songs, which date back to the mid-1990s. He is seeking $10.5m (€9m) and the right to profit from the recordings.
Filed in August, West's lawsuit accuses Miller, who is closely associated with the creation of house music, of improperly trying to distribute some of the master recordings earlier this year.
The 28-year-old claims Miller offered the songs Ho!!! And Stop Frontin' to distributors using a fake contract with West's counterfeit signature, something Miller also denies.
In the suit, West also sought payment of $1.3m (€1.11m) and demanded Miller cease using West's name or voice in connection with the master recordings.
