Stone shocked by 'homophobic' America

Acclaimed director Oliver Stone is convinced America's awkwardness about homosexuality ensured his epic movie Alexander was a box-office disaster, even though the title character's bisexuality was not a major part of the plot.

Stone was counting on UK audiences to appreciate elements of the movie Americans missed, but was disappointed when British critics slammed the release almost as harshly as the US press.
