Minogue glad of heightened cancer awareness

Kylie Minogue says she is pleased that her fight against breast cancer has raised awareness of the disease.

The singer underwent surgery in Melbourne last month to remove a lump from her breast. A statement on her website said: "Being 'breast aware' plays a major role in early detection, so I was especially pleased to hear younger women in particular are being more proactive with breast examination and talking to their doctors."
