Cruise uses Tonight Show to poke fun at Oprah interview
Tom Cruise may be in love, but he can still poke fun at himself.
Cruise created a sensation last month on The Oprah Winfrey Show when the starry-eyed actor got down on his knees and repeatedly jumped up on the talk-show host’s couch, saying that his love for actress Katie Holmes was ‘beyond cool’.
Yesterday, Cruise played to the crowd on The Tonight Show, jumping on Jay Leno’s couch and pumping his arms as fans cheered.
“When I start to think about her, things happen,” he told Leno. “So, cease talking.”
A decidedly more subdued Cruise told Leno he was looking forward to travelling, scuba diving and “spending the rest of his life” with the 26-year-old actress.
“It’s a thing that I wish for everyone,” he said of being in love. “I like hearing good news. … I’m just really happy. She’s a terrific lady, she’s a great lady.”
Cruise appeared on The Tonight Show to promote his summer blockbuster War of the Worlds, which opens in the US on June 29.
Holmes has the female lead in Batman Begins, which opens on June 15.
