Legendary rocker Eric Clapton became an alcoholic because he felt guilty about his relationship with late Beatle George Harrison's wife Patti Boyd.

The Layla guitarist, who later married Boyd in 1979 before they divorced in 1988, turned to booze following a period of heroin addiction.
