Samurai film director turns hand to noir

Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low (BFI) is an excellent film noir from the acclaimed Japanese director best known for his classic epics such as Ran and Seven Samurai.

In this crime drama a kidnapping goes wrong when the abductor seizes a chauffeur’s son instead of the businessman’s, but still demands payment of a sizeable ransom.
