Elton brands US Pop Idol viewers 'racist'

Elton John has never been one to mince words, if you will excuse the phrase, and he sparked a huge row over the US version of Pop Idol by branding American viewers who voted to boot out a black female singer as “incredibly racist”.

Elton agrees with Simon Cowell and fellow judges, singer Paula Abdul and music producer Randy Jackson, who reckon three black divas left on the show blew the mostly white opposition away.
