Cruise 9/11 charity raises €1m

A charity set up by Hollywood star Tom Cruise said today it had raised nearly €1m to help emergency workers made ill by working in the hazardous wreckage of the World Trade Centre.

Scores of police officers and firefighters suffered illnesses after breathing in the smoke and dust left in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York.
