French rock star Bertrand Cantat is to be investigated by a French judge over the beating death of his actress girlfriend in Lithuania.

The singer for Noir Desir, one of France’s most popular rock bands, has been held since late July in the Baltic country, where actress Marie Trintignant was found in a coma.
