Martin Scorsese gets Hollywood star
Martin Scorsese has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
The Gangs of New York filmmaker attended a ceremony at the Kodak Theatre, to receive the 2,217th star.
Among those in attendance were his Goodfellas star Joe Pesci and Casino actress Sharon Stone.
Scorsese's star joins recent additions such as comedian Drew Carey, Nicole Kidman and fellow director Steven Spielberg.
He said he was honoured to have his name placed on the same walkway as many historic directors, writers and performers.
"Many of these names on the Walk of Fame bloom larger than life. They created the grammar of cinema," he said.
Scorsese is also set to receive a lifetime achievement honor at the Directors Guild Awards this weekend.
