Dr Who could be on the way back

Cult sci-fi series Dr Who could be on the way back to television screens, it was reported today.

According to the Daily Mirror, the long-running series could be making a comeback on BBC1 as early as next year.

The sci-fi series - which made famous aliens like the Daleks - was axed in 1989 after 26 years.

But producers say they've now begun searching for the ninth doctor. It is possible the show could return to its original Saturday teatime slot.

"Discussions are going on at the moment but they are in the very early stages," a BBC spokeswoman told the Daily Mirror.
