Michael Greene, who transformed the Grammy Awards from an industry ritual into a global television event, has resigned as president of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, the organisation said.

Greene, 52, had been the subject of an internal investigation into allegations that he sexually harassed female employees but, according to a statement released Sunday by the academy, the investigation cleared Greene.
