While the likes of Siri and Alexa have made great strides, users still have to speak predictably and have fairly limited options.

Clunky commands like this wouldn’t feel right in a Star Trek video game, so the developers of the VR title “Star Trek: Bridge Crew” turned to IBM’s Watson AI to interpret what players say.

This will not only make interacting with your starship’s onboard computer easier, but also make it possible to converse with your crew members.

Players can use any phrase, within reason, to give commands, rather than having to speak from a preset list.

The game has already been released but the voice command feature is expected to continue to evolve throughout its life cycle.
