Twitter expands mute function

Twitter has expanded its mute function to allow users to mute notifications from accounts they don’t follow as part of a wider effort to combat cyber-bullying and abuse on the social media network.

Twitter expands mute function

As noted in a post on the Twitter Support page, the platform’s advanced filter settings now permits users to mute notifications from accounts they don’t follow, accounts that do not follow them, accounts featuring a default profile photo and accounts without a confirmed email address or phone number.

Users can also turn on a quality filter that removes lower-quality content like duplicate or automated Tweets.
