The beta version of macOS High Sierra is out now
Rather than a radical shift, High Sierra is an incremental upgrade to the existing version of macOS, Sierra. The main improvements are under the hood, with the new OS adopting the APFS file system architecture over the current HFS+ architecture. Many iPhones have already been moved over, so the introduction of this commonality points to yet more shared infrastructure between the brand’s two major operating systems.
More exciting upgrades include support for VR, the ability to connect external graphics cards, and an improved version of Safari that blocks autoplaying video and limits cross-site tracking automatically.
